Never Alone

Baptism is a beautiful and deeply personal experience. Many of us look back on this moment in our lives with great fondness and joy. It marks a decisive point in our journey—a surrender to Jesus in every aspect of life and a commitment to walk with Him anew in the days, weeks, months, and years to come.

More than just a cherished memory, baptism is a clear biblical command from Jesus and an essential step to enter the kingdom of God (John 3:3). It is a visible expression of faith in the atoning sacrifice of the Lord (Mark 16:16; John 3:16) and a turning away from a life of rebellion and sin (Acts 2:38).

One often-overlooked gift of baptism is how it speaks to the deep human struggle of being “alone”—both literally and figuratively. Across the globe, despite unprecedented digital connectivity, many still experience profound isolation regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or background. As Stephen King, the renowned novelist, once wrote: “Alone… [is] the most awful word in the English tongue. Murder doesn’t hold a candle to it and hell is only a poor synonym.”

Scripture warns of the ultimate aloneness awaiting those who reject God’s love and Christ’s sacrifice. John describes the final judgment with sobering words: “And there was found no place for them” (Revelation 20:11). But for those who surrender to Christ in the watery grave of baptism—accepting Him as Savior and forever Friend—life begins anew. From that moment on, you will never be alone.

Jesus promised the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit as a constant guide and companion in your life. So when challenges arise and fear threatens your peace, you can confidently echo David’s words: “When I am afraid, I will trust in You!” (Psalm 56:3).

Today, as we witness the joy of baptism, let us rejoice together and give glory to God—for in Christ, never alone is not just a title, but a forever reality.
