Kapitbisig: One Heritage. One Mission
The North America Adventist Filipino Churches Association (NAAFCA) brings together Filipino-American and Filipino-Canadian Seventh-day Adventist churches across North America. Working closely with the Asian/Pacific Ministries of the North American Division, NAAFCA creates national programs and supports local efforts to strengthen discipleship, evangelism, church planting, and community services among its members and partner organizations (NAAFCA By-Laws).
Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pacific Union Conference (PUC) Chapter of NAAFCA hoped to turn its annual weekend convocation into a camp meeting. This idea began while I was chapter president. Now, we thank God that this long-awaited event will finally happen from July 30 to August 2, 2026, at Soquel Campground in Santa Cruz, California.
Our theme, “Kapitbisig: One Heritage, One Mission,” reflects our hope to bring together Filipino-American church communities across the PUC. We want this camp meeting to be a spiritually uplifting, family-friendly event for all ages. We pray that everyone who attends will leave with renewed faith, stronger friendships, and fresh inspiration for mission.
So, what does this mean for us at San Diego Fil-Am? It reminds us that we are part of a family of churches with a shared heritage and culture. Even though we are far apart, we face many of the same challenges and opportunities as we follow Christ’s call to “make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19), and preach the everlasting gospel to “every nation, tribe, language, and people” (Revelation 14:6). Keeping this in mind can help us focus our efforts to reach those around us for God’s kingdom.
It is a special blessing to reconnect with friends and church family from the Philippines and to meet new fellow believers. These gatherings encourage us in our walk with Christ, just as the Bible urges us to “consider one another in order to stir up love and good works” and to encourage one another (Hebrews 10:24–25).
Whether you join us in person at the camp meeting or watch the online stream here at church, I pray we all experience the spiritual nourishment our hearts desire as we worship our Almighty God together. Let us remember: we are one family, with one heritage and one mission in Christ.
