Practices for Living Well

A disciple of Jesus is someone who follows Him, and this goes beyond just knowing about Him. It’s about putting what we know into practice in our daily lives. Following Jesus changes how we connect with God, with others, and with the world. It affects our decisions, our relationships, and even the people who watch and walk alongside us. To follow Jesus means learning from Him and living out His teachings wherever we are, letting our experiences with Him shape us so we become more like our Master and Teacher.

This focus on discipleship has been central to our church for several years. A few years back, we introduced the CRG Discipleship Model to help us Connect, Relate, and Generate as followers of Jesus. While we have faced some challenges along the way, we are committed to this path because we believe Jesus calls us to make disciples and share His transforming love with everyone God brings into our lives.

I am excited that our Following Jesus journey started last night. Through the Nine Practices for Living Well, this series encourages us to go beyond learning about Jesus and to grow in following Him. Wherever He leads, we learn, trust, and follow. We thank God for our guest presenters who have joined us. We are especially thankful to Pastors Will Penick and Danielle Berumen, Director and Associate Director of Ministerial for the Southeastern California Conference, for guiding us through some of these practices. Their help will let us look more closely at practices we may know but can understand and apply more deeply.

I encourage everyone to take part in this series, not just to learn, but to find encouragement, inspiration, and real change. As you join in, think about inviting your family, friends, or co-workers to come along. The Holy Spirit is already at work in people’s lives, often in ways we don’t notice. Maybe God is calling us to help someone else move closer to Jesus.

Wherever He leads, we learn, we trust, and we follow.
