48 Years of God’s Grace

As Adventists, we are part of a movement. Our church was raised by God to awaken hearts—to stir a holy discontent with the political, social, and religious status quo of this world. We are called to remind people that this earth is not our final home. While we are entrusted to be faithful stewards of all God has given, including our environment, our ultimate longing is for the home Jesus has gone to prepare for us (John 14:1–3).

The pioneers of the San Diego Filipino-American Seventh-day Adventist Church embraced this unique calling. From the beginning, they grounded their ministry, mission, and community involvement on this heavenly vision. We acknowledge God's guiding hand throughout our journey—sustaining us by His grace. Though we have faced our own limitations, seasons of indifference, and even rebellion, God has remained faithful. Whatever we have accomplished, all honor and glory belong to Him alone. It is by His faithfulness that we remain a church family endeavoring to reflect the light of the One who is the Light of the world—Jesus, our Friend, Savior, and coming King.

Today, many of us can testify to God’s grace over these 48 years. Like the prophet Samuel, we, too, can say, “Thus far the Lord has helped us” (1 Samuel 7:12). As we continue walking in God’s grace, we are called to move forward in faith—honoring His past leading while embracing His present calling.

Our celebration today is but a humble attempt to recognize God’s unmistakable guidance and generous provision. All that we are and all that we have as a church family is because of His grace. To Him be the glory—yesterday, today, and forever—Pastor Lim.
